Dogfish Head Craft Brewery is gearing up for a special occasion – the 120th day of the year, which falls on Monday, April 29th. For Dogfish Head, this day is nothing short of a holiday as it marks the return of their much-loved 120 Minute IPA. But this year, there’s an added reason to celebrate as the brewery unveils brand-new packaging artwork for all its beers.
“Typically, the 120th day of the year means it’s time to crack a 120 Minute IPA and raise a glass to another year’s release of this beautiful beer,” said Sam Calagione, Founder & Brewer of Dogfish Head. “This year, I get to do that AND commemorate the official launch of our all-new beer packaging artwork, which is finally rolling out to shelves nationwide. It’s been a long, but rewarding journey to get to this new look, so raising a fresh 120 Minute IPA sounds like the perfect celebration to me!”
The new labels lean into Dogfish Head’s nautical roots, drawing inspiration from its coastal Delaware birthplace. Each beer label features a distinct nautical-themed illustration, such as a sailboat or a lighthouse. The artwork emphasizes the flavor profiles of the beers. Honoring Dogfish Head’s commitment to brewing with unique culinary ingredients, the labels now showcase drawings of the beer’s ingredients along with flavor descriptors, providing consumers with clearer flavor expectations.
Lastly, Dogfish Head’s iconic “shark-and-shield” logo, originally introduced in the 90s, has been enlarged and prominently featured on the new packaging. This update ensures that the brand’s logo stands out against the vibrant new colors while retaining its distinctive identity.
In addition to the packaging redesign, Dogfish Head’s fan-favorite 120 Minute IPA is hitting shelves across the country. This imperial IPA, boasting a hefty 15.5% ABV, is continuously hopped throughout the brewing process to create a bold and hoppy flavor profile. Perfect for cellaring, this beer is a favorite among hop enthusiasts.
