Great Lakes Brewing Co. (GLBC) is gearing up for the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse with a unique celebration, promising enthusiasts a cosmic experience right in Cleveland. The brewery has unveiled its plans, featuring a brewpub party and the launch of two special brews, adding a distinctive touch to this celestial event.
The highlight of GLBC’s eclipse-themed offerings is the Limited Edition Vanilla Blackout Stout. In honor of Cleveland’s prime location in the path of totality, this special variant of the beloved Blackout Stout will be available in commemorative 16 oz. Can 4-Packs. The cans boast eclipse-inspired artwork, showcasing Destination Cleveland’s iconic script, capturing the essence of the city’s brief but momentous cosmic prominence. The 10.5% alcohol by volume Vanilla Blackout Stout will be exclusively sold at the GLBC gift shop and select Northeast Ohio retailers, starting March 22 and only while supplies last.
Proudly representing Ohio as part of the Simons Foundation’s In the Path of Totality brewery partnerships, GLBC joins 12 other breweries situated along the eclipse’s path. As part of this collaboration, GLBC will introduce the In the Path of Totality: 3:13PM Schwarzbier, aptly named for the time the solar eclipse will traverse the brewery. This special brew will be available exclusively on draft at the brewery’s Total Eclipse Party.
GLBC’s brewpub is set to host a solar eclipse viewing extravaganza on April 8. The event is free and open to the public, offering an opportunity to savor both the Limited Edition Vanilla Blackout Stout and the In the Path of Totality: 3:13PM on tap. Complimentary viewing glasses will be provided while supplies last. The picturesque Market Avenue patio will be the backdrop for eclipse viewing, beginning at 3PM. With live music by Whiskey Throttle from 2PM to 6PM, attendees are encouraged to make reservations, given the anticipated turnout.
