Tröegs Independent Brewing, based in Hershey, PA, has announced the debut of its latest addition to the Once-a-Year series: the Second Cut Mango Double IPA, boasting an ABV of 8.5%. This new offering joins the ranks of the brewery’s renowned lineup, which includes beloved brews such as Mad Elf, Nugget Nectar, and Nimble Giant.
Second Cut is a fusion of citrusy Simcoe hops and juicy mango. During the fermentation process, Tröegs incorporates over 12 pounds of real mango per barrel, infusing the brew with a delightful sweetness and fruity essence. The resulting flavor profile of Second Cut boasts hints of juicy mango, pineapple, and subtle undertones of raw honey.
The inspiration behind the name “Second Cut” stems from a dual source. Firstly, it pays homage to the diligent hop farmers who meticulously prune their hop bines, ensuring a bountiful harvest season. Secondly, it serves as a tribute to Tröegs’ beloved First Cut IPA, a fan-favorite among enthusiasts.
John Trogner, co-founding brother and brewmaster at Tröegs, shares insight into the creation process, stating, “We’re always on the lookout for new flavors to showcase in our seasonal offerings. With First Cut garnering a dedicated following over the years, we wanted to push the boundaries and create something even more robust for our fans.”
Second Cut Mango Double IPA is now available on tap and in 16-ounce cans, accessible across Tröegs’ distribution network.
