Tröegs Independent Brewing has announced the annual return of Nugget Nectar, a seasonal Imperial Amber Ale renowned for its excessive dry-hopping and vibrant flavor profile. This once-a-year release highlights the brewery’s commitment to celebrating fresh ingredients, particularly the “fresh-off-the-bine” Nugget hops sourced from its yearly trip to Yakima, Washington, for hop selection.
Nugget Nectar prominently features Nugget hops, delivering bold notes of pine and grapefruit, while Simcoe hops contribute hints of ripe mango and creamsicle. The beer’s assertive hop character is balanced by kilned malt, which adds body and a touch of sweetness. With its striking orange hue, robust hop flavors, and 7.5% ABV, Nugget Nectar is well-suited to providing warmth during the winter months.
This year marks the beer’s 21st anniversary, and to celebrate, Tröegs is releasing Nugget Nectar in limited-edition packaging that revisits its classic label art, a nostalgic favorite among fans. The brewery is also hosting Nugget Weekend, a four-day celebration of the iconic beer, from Thursday, January 16, through Sunday, January 19, at its Hershey-based brewery.
Nugget Weekend will feature:
- A sneak preview of Double Nugget Nectar, an intensified 9.5% ABV version of the original.
- Nitro Nugget, a smooth and creamy nitrogen-carbonated variation of Nugget Nectar, available exclusively at the brewery.
- A special Chef’s Dinner on Friday, January 17, offering an open bar and a multi-course menu inspired by Nugget Nectar. Tickets for the dinner are limited and can be purchased at troegs.com/tours.
Throughout the weekend, the brewery’s Snack Bar will serve Alligator Nuggets tossed in apricot chili sauce. Additional activities include a Nugget firkin tapping on Friday, live vinyl DJs His & Hers Music on Saturday evening, and a Sunday Brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. while supplies last.
In addition to the festivities at the brewery, Tröegs is hosting “21 Years of Nugget Nectar” events across its distribution network. These celebrations will feature fresh Nugget Nectar on tap and select locations offering Double Nugget and Nitro Nugget.
