Tröegs Independent Brewing is celebrating the return of fall with the seasonal release of its popular pumpkin ale, Master of Pumpkins. The Pennsylvania-based brewery uses 3,000 pounds of locally grown longneck pumpkins to create the beer, showcasing a strong connection to local agriculture.
Brewmaster John Trogner emphasizes the importance of real pumpkins in the recipe. “To us, a pumpkin beer should have pumpkins, and fortunately they grow really well in Pennsylvania,” he says. The brewing process involves cleaning, roasting, and puréeing the pumpkins, which are then added to the mash tun.
Master of Pumpkins is subtly spiced with cinnamon, clove, ginger, and nutmeg, offering classic fall flavors. It will be available on draft and in 16-oz. cans starting September 23, wherever Tröegs beer is sold.
