Tröegs Independent Brewing has announced the return of its popular winter seasonal IPA, Blizzard of Hops. This beer, which first launched in 2014, has become a staple for the Pennsylvania-based brewery and a favorite among its seasonal offerings.
Blizzard of Hops is brewed with a unique blend of hops, including Centennial, Chinook, El Dorado, and Galaxy, giving it a taste profile that evokes notes of spruce tips, pineapple, and orange rind. According to Tröegs brewmaster and co-founder John Trogner, the beer is designed to balance the richer flavors people tend to crave in winter months. “In the winter, our taste buds dull a bit, so we tend to eat richer, fattier foods. The lively bitterness of Blizzard of Hops really helps balance that out,” Trogner explains.
At 6.4% ABV and brewed with a foundation of pilsner malt and wheat, Blizzard of Hops is intended as a refreshing, cold-weather choice. “It’s the perfect beer to drink while you’re shoveling snow,” adds Trogner.
Blizzard of Hops is available on draft and in 12-oz bottles and cans, both at the Tröegs brewery and throughout its distribution network.
