Tröegs Independent Brewing has released Sunshine Salt + Lime Lager as part of its Once-a-Year series. The beer, which was first introduced in 2023 as part of the brewery’s Summer of Sunshine variety pack, returns this year with wider availability.
Brewed with pilsner malt and flaked rice, Sunshine Salt + Lime Lager is designed to offer a crisp, clean taste. The addition of lime and kosher salt gives it a citrus-forward character with a hint of salinity. It comes in at 4.3% ABV.
According to brewmaster and co-founding brother John Trogner, the beer originated as a Scratch Series experiment in the summer of 2023. “We brewed a Scratch batch back in the summer of 2023 and loved the results,” he said. “We decided to include it in our 2024 summer variety pack, and many of our fans said it was the standout beer.”
Now part of the brewery’s rotating Once-a-Year lineup, Sunshine Salt + Lime Lager joins other limited releases like Mad Elf, Nugget Nectar, and Nimble Giant.
The beer is currently available on draft and in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans across Tröegs’ distribution area. It will also be featured in the updated Summer of Sunshine variety 15-pack, which includes three additional exclusive beers and is set to hit shelves starting April 28.
